Dr Pattie Gonsalves
Co-Investigator, Sangath
Pattie leads the Youth Mental Health Group at Sangath, a leading Indian mental health research organization. She specializes in designing and evaluating mental health interventions for adolescents and young people. With a background in global health, Pattie earned her PhD in psychology from the University of Sussex and an MSc in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford. Her expertise includes participatory research with youth with lived experience, storytelling and digital interventions for common mental health problems, and public engagement. In 2016, she founded the "It’s Ok To Talk" national campaign, which was recognized by Facebook as one of the top 10 international mental health youth projects in 2019. Pattie's research is supported by competitive grants from the Wellcome Trust, Comic Relief, and Grand Challenges Canada. Currently, she leads various research and public engagement initiatives, including Baatcheet, Metropolis, and Outlive, aimed at tackling depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention among young people.
